Unilever has recently launched a pole with British probiotics as one of its ingredients functional, so Unilever launches like many other power companies in search of new products which include this interesting functional ingredient. Unilever ice cream maker is the world's largest with 17.7% of the world market and 25% of the European market. Along with probiotics this new ice cream contains 30% of calcium recommended daily dose in the UK. The inclusion of probiotics in frozen desserts is nothing new, because since 2006 have been released worldwide at least 35 frozen desserts containing probiotics in countries like Spain, Ireland, Colombia, India and China. In Latin America Hansen has developed a probiotic ice cream in collaboration with a producer of ice cream from Costa Rica. In India, Company Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation launched in 2007, two ice cream with probiotics , one aimed at people with diabetes (Amul Sugar Free Probiotic Frozen Dessert) and another (Amul Prolife Probiotic Wellness Ice Cream) for the health conscious consumer within its platform of healthy products.
