The controversial on biopic The Doors led by Oliver Stone in 1991 was launched yesterday on April 18 in England in a remastered edition coinciding with its 20th anniversary. This new edition includes exclusive extras such as documentaries " Back to the Roots" and " Jim Morrison - A Poet in Paris " the latter which chronicles the last moments of Jim in Paris.
This movie, so hated by members of the group and they have many times expressed their discomfort, is definitely a cult movie for those who love the legacy of this great band. For me, the group, somehow, has to be pleased with the film of Oliver Stone starring Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan , and thanks to the many generations have been engaged in The Doors.
On the other hand, I agree with Ray Manzarek and the rest of the band have always said that the image that gives the film Jim Morrison is very distorted view of reality, as it basically just shows someone who lives a lawless , on edge, seeking self-destruction in a world of excess, sex, alcohol and drugs and where the group is shown only as a mere parade. And certainly it is clear that both the group and Jim were much more ...... But as the first contact is more than enough. Also, if we compare the tape Oliver Stone with the great documentary Tom DiCillo "When You 're Strange" see that the image shown in Jim is not too different.
.
any case I encourage you to watch the movie Oliver Stone and especially to listen to the music of The Doors, that if that is unique and great. A real orgasm.
