The durum wheat (Triticum aestivum or T. vulgare), a cereal of the genus Triticum, is the species most widely grown wheat in the world. It is a hexaploid plant, due to formation of 42 chromosomes divided into 6 sets of 7 chromosomes each. This species is grown in the high latitudes of both hemispheres (Eg Argentina, Canada, France and Ukraine). It is widely used to make flour for the manufacture of bread.
